Simple and complex extractions, wisdom teeth, frenectomies and surgery combined with orthodontics, under local anaesthetic with minimally invasive techniques.
As dentistry has evolved, several specialties have been recognized, oral surgery being the first specialty recognized as such. It could be said that it is the oldest specialty in dentistry. This specialty is dedicated to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, anomalies and injuries of the teeth, jaws and adjacent tissues. Often, as is the case with the vast majority of dentistry specialties, the oral surgeon specialist requires a team approach alongside the Hygienist, Orthodontist, Prosthodontist, Periodontist, among others, to provide the best treatment and outcome to the patient with the most advanced knowledge and procedures.

Tooth extraction is the most common intervention within oral surgery. Often, professionals consider tooth extraction a minor procedure lacking importance and this is when problems arise. Because a proper tooth extraction involves removing the entire tooth with minimal damage to surrounding tissues. In the case of wisdom teeth, extraction is indicated when there is a lack of space in the oral cavity (sometimes combined with orthodontic treatments), when the teeth can cause damage to adjacent teeth and even surrounding tissues, or in cases where the gum surrounding the wisdom teeth is inflamed and painful due to their failure to erupt properly. In this case, chronic infection of the surrounding gum can occur. Since wisdom teeth often present various variations and irregularities in their root morphology, often wisdom tooth extraction requires a prior radiological study, such as a Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) scan. This tool facilitates the work of the professional for better patient comfort. The extraction of impacted teeth involves extracting teeth that have not erupted and remain retained within the bone. Sometimes, with the help of the Orthodontist, we can help these teeth erupt, thus avoiding the need for extraction (which is easier in early ages). This happens more frequently with canines. It is important to treat this type of teeth as soon as possible to avoid poor eruptions of adjacent teeth, cyst formations and possible infections.
Frenula are bands of fibrous tissue, muscular or both. There are three frenula: the upper labial, the lower labial and the lingual. Sometimes these frenula can cause problems such as speech alterations (more common with the lingual frenulum), problems with dental prostheses, orthodontic issues and periodontal pathologies. In these cases, they must be treated when detected. The intervention is quick and simple under local anesthesia, with the aim of solving problems that could have greater severity in adulthood.
As mentioned earlier, oral surgery sometimes requires collaboration with other dental specialists. In the case of impacted teeth, more frequently with canines, with the help of the orthodontist, we can help these teeth erupt and be positioned correctly. This treatment, called orthodontic traction, is more effective at early ages since the impacted tooth over time can ankylose in the bone, making its movement impossible. It is important to treat this type of teeth as soon as possible to avoid poor eruptions of adjacent teeth, cyst formations, and possible infections. This type of intervention involves a small incision in the gum to uncover the canine so that a button with a chain can be attached to it for pulling. It is usually a simple and quick procedure.

It is the correction of a lip or tongue frenum that causes speech problems, gaps between teeth or gum recession. It is a simple, quick procedure.
With the help of orthodontics the tooth can be guided into place (orthodontic traction). The earlier it is treated, the more effective it is.
